Rich, and That Time in His Youth
We met at my local comic book store, and while discussing Mike Brodie's work, and how he illegally rode a train across America, Rich began to smile, and then told me of his time doing much the same thing, several years back, riding trains from Florida to New Orleans and back, just for shits & giggles, about some of the things he experienced:
-the strange coded language written on the inside of train cars and around railyards
-the fierce cliquishness of those who rode the rails regularly
-the freedom of just jumping on a train and going where ever it will take you
-some of the strange, kind folk you met along the way
-the feeling of flying as a train rode along a bridge that had nothing but water on either side
and i began to envy those experiences, wondering if there was still room in my life for such things.
