dockwalk
(a.k.a. "drew baker, professional. banned in barcelona. what?!?)

this was the first shot i set up for in barcelona. this is the bridge on the way to floating mall of bars, a giant shopping complex that floats in the harbor.

of course, i roll to the spot with tripod, backpack, and 600se in hand. i assembled the shot, with remote release attached, and moments before i hit the shutter, i'm interrupted by spanish harbor patrol.

patrol: "perdon...what are you doing?"

me: "i'm taking a picture of our lovely bridge."

he of course eyes the setup and my backpack, which i neglected to close.

patrol: "really. how come?"

me: "it's a hobby"

patrol: "are you a professional?"

me: (laughter) "not at all."

patrol: "i don't believe you."

me: "well, i'm flattered, but i'm not a professional at all."

patrol: (motioning to my backpack) "that looks a like more than a hobby."

me: "i take my hobby very seriously."

patrol: "i think you are lying. you can't take pictures here."

me: "umm...how come?"

patrol: "you need a permit to shoot here."

me: "why? i'm on vacation."

patrol: "you're going to have to leave."

i wasn't much for getting thrown into spanish prison on my first night...maybe second...but not now and certainly not by this douche.

me: "that's fine. i'll pack it up. i didn't really want to shoot your ugly fucking bridge anyway."

needless to say, i packed up and left.

of course, i came back the next night and had my two friends play watch oout and run interference for the 30 minutes it took for me to get this.
