2011-11-10 // 08:40:11 jcoldslabs I've gotten pretty good at making friction-fit lens boards from cardboard, mat board and/or plywood. I haven't had to use duct tape yet myself (but maybe a little black gaffer's tape now and again). True, it is a bit of a pain to rig all of these home-made lenses up. Not to mention that if I don't use the Speed Graphic I have no shutter other than what my hand can provide! Slow film and neutral density filters are very important to me now.
2011-11-10 // 08:07:17 jcoldslabs No such thing as a "real" 4x5 lens. I've used magnifying glasses, loupes, projector lenses, anything that will form an image. If you use it with 4x5 film, it's a 4x5 lens in my opinion. I have far more non-standard lenses in my collection than standard ones. It's all about the photo anyway, not the lens.
(But knowing what equipment other people use is always interesting.)

although i like the improvising - sometimes i wish i had something that doe´snt need to be fixed with duct-tape. :-)

as i can afford a "real" 4x5 lense, i used the 127mm lense from the Polaroid 600SE :-)
