This damn awesome. So awesome that past sentence didn't need a verb.

They say beards are for those who aren't brave enought to have a moustache. Sir, you're now in my list of role models.

^
Thank much.

Since I'm on your list I'd like to see YOU in this project. You might want to pick another from your list though. ;-)

yes, that's my favourite too. I think it's my favourite photo ever. I even nearly bought a Cole Weston printed copy a few years ago when I obviously had more money than sense!
^
Don't tell anyone but I had a brief fantasy about doing this one myself - with me. Actually it was more of a nightmare.

One of my favourites too. You should've bought the CW print. A decade or so ago I desperately wanted to purchase an original platinum print of Horst's "Mainbocher Corset". This was a few years before he died & I thought it was a steal at under $10k. My dear wife informed me that she didn't want a picture of Madonna on our wall. Sad, but true.

Ha! Well done! I was planning to do this too but hadn't got round to sticking the 600SE 75mm into my 5X4 to try and match Weston's monster... I was also looking for the original picture that Tina Modotti took, I'm sure there's another version of it that isn't so tightly cropped but I can't find it on the net. I'd like to do Modotti's "woman with flag" but it would have to be so well done it's a bit daunting. Ooooh, how about dashing to Munich and getting Esther to pose for a remake of "Tina on the azotea 1923"..... mmmmmm.
^
Thanks Jay. I was wishing for an old copy lens I used to have when I took a look at my first shot of this. "Hmm, my lens sure does look small." The photo I linked was not the same as I have in one of my books either. And I'm sure that was sky behind Weston and not sheetrock. ;-)

"Woman with Flag" would be tough. The wardrobe, setting, and of course the wrinkles properly placed.

Esther as Tina - mmm. My favourite »link

How good you are! The moustache is amazingly perfect and the grim, grim set of the chin and the ver-ry serious slant about the eyes.
^
Thanks Esther. I tried for a very serious & grim look & it seems I succeeded.

well done..the mustache is fantastic and I envy your 8x10 gear ;=) any idea what lens Edward Weston has on his camera? Looks like an aero ektar lens to me.
^
thanks - i just "shaved" the moustache off. ;-)

i'm not sure which lens is in the linked photo but i just found a couple of interesting links & little did i know that he once used the same lens that i have. the turner & reich triple convertible (12" 21" 28"). wow.
