^

i just took a quick shower (outside - it's pouring). must go check my leaky ground floor too.

mmhhh.... eager to see the results then some day. I've heard they are good lenses. though considered 'vintage' and 'future classics', i'm always thinking they are to new for my taste ;-)

b&J 4x5? that's the one with the aluminium body and the rotary back, right? nice.. weegee's choice.. and good movements as far as i remember. here's a beautiful manual btw »link (including an article by mr. arthur fellig ;-)

^
i'm getting more eager too. soon i hope. the fujinon is probably an 80's vintage. looks nice, is sharp - which is what i wanted from this. i had hoped to use the truner reich as well, but will have to make a custom board for it. the t/r has a sharpness but also something else. i think from the little air bubbles i see in some elements.

my 4x5 bj is the field model. i'd considered a rail camera but when i saw this one it was a nice match with the 8x10. thanks for the manual/article link. i'll have a proper look this evening.

if you image google "burke james camera" look at the 4th image. that's the one. mine has more character though. ;-)

did i ever mention how much i like a quiet conversation in a forgotten comment box. like a secret place almost.

off to continue dinner, meatloaf made, mashed potatoes next...

btw.. the once mentioned turner reich here?
^
yes, all elements in place.

my left hand slightly extended to hold the cable release. as i recall the lens was about 1m from the front of the 95.

i've recently acquired a lens for my B&J 4x5 (also a recent purchase - $80). the turner reich was too long for even infinity with this camera so i purchased a fujinon 210 for it. a couple of test shots only so far - using very expired 55 which worked beautifully.

wonderful one, oré.
a lot polaroid history in (the camera. the film), and photography as well (the size. the little details.. the dof...)
most perfect moment to finally make use of your 8x10 stuff.

it makes me smile reading the comment from nikki below. that was a wonderful moment seeing her reaction.

oh...
i mean getting use to the *idea* of 4x5

though i did take a few large format shots...
with a few different camera's.

my favorite...
easily...
the one i had to stick half my face in.

it was cinematic
shooting that way.

goodness...
i wouldn't even need film!
just looking through that way is enough for me!

a visual treat.

i am still getting use to 4x5

^
thanks Nikki.

i don't have much 8x10 to play with but it is fun.

i have some 4x5 film but no camera now. what are you using?

Congrats on the Retroroid Win!! The next project is going to be really tough... see you there.
^
thanks buz. (may i call you buz? :-))

yes, next project = tough. i've been brainstorming with myself today. quite useless actually. maybe i should go to one of those side-of-the-road psychics for some ideas instead.

Great Shot!! I still cut down some 4x5 film and load it for a "one time" shot, just as an excuse to play with them.
^
thanks.

i've got a couple of rolls of 47 but the contrast is so bad the image is almost invisible. i may try to load a sheet of 600 in it for the one time try. good idea.

grazie marco. it's an original 1948 model 95. it sits next to an original sx-70 in my office. they look great together.

ABC

I remember when this was the first Polaroid ever made.

I remember when this was the last Polaroid ever made.

It has always been one of the best ever made.

Polaroid magic is a lot of things. Like when chemicals respect a man's hat.

If shot of the day was phased out (a boy can hope), and there had to be just one picture on the cover always, this would be it.

Fingernails. Snap, crackle, pop.

Good night, Mister Golden Age Tabloid Photographer.

^
If this photo had only one comment, this would be the one.

Good morning, and thank you.

thanks Zvevi. i was happy the 40's was extended. i thought it fitting that the model 95 be in this project. i was just a prop lucky enough to have a vintage hat. ;-)
