you just noticed something which is part of when marx wrote about 'entfremdung' (which is a term by hegel btw and did not have a negative coonotation from the beginning, only, with capitalism and change of work, m. used it to try to describe what happened).
which by no means i want to live in a communistic dictatorship. but it means, even if something got history, this does not have to mean all what had to do it is not worth anything.

"I got to know some funny people, some bored people, and a lot I didn't get to know at all" - wonderful sentence. the last part is the most important.

btw - you might have sensed this discrepancy because you work with polaroid. where you experience the most extreme opposite (in a hegel sense, probably)
