yep definitely smile. even if they don't smile back you have the moral high ground. plus, it's bound to have cheered them up a little bit - even if they are a moody fu##er.

^ smiles all round, sometimes when someone stands on my foot I light heartedly say (with a smile on my face) 'it's alright I've got another one' but so far my only reaction to that has been scornful glances. I think I look too much like an uncouth youth for that one to be taken in jest.
