Little did this poor soul know that a simple act of graffiti would lead to people declaring themselves helpless and hopeless romantics on the internet. I'm coming out too! Add me to the list!

there's a graffiti artist from san francisco who stencils love notes and leaves them scattered about the city's sidewalks. they say things like: 'she loves the moon.' they are very sweet.
i am still a hopeless romantic. it dies very slow.

so lovely!
there's another one in paris who's been writing "Amour" just everywhere on sidewalks and walls, even in most unexpected places, for like 10 years or so. Always a surprise and a pleasure to spot them around the city. Puts some joy into my life whenever i see one of them ;)
Im a fan of graffiti anyway.
hehe and a hopeless romantic too, i guess. sometimes. ;)

New York has an anglicized equivalent:

Ubiquitous tag. Always the same looping cursive penmanship.

Beautifully simple, I'm sure it must have crossed your mind that the graffiti could be directed at you but alas you've already said the poor romantic soul is helpless, how sad. ;-(

actually the first thing that came to my mind was not that it might be directed at me, but whether the person who wrote this was happy or sad writing it. Was this done out of happiness or desperation. I couldnt figure out the answer, as the way its written all over the place makes it look rather happy and enthusiastic, but at the same time, i couldnt help thinking the person must have felt sad if they had to write it on a wall instead of saying it to the one they love...
