I adore your description/statement here. It made me pay closer attention to the photograph. I've seen some news stories on the plans for this big power plant (is it hydroelectric and involves the building of a gigantic dam?) and it sounded very worrisome. I don't understand why the people of Iceland would allow for something like this to happen? Next year I hope to visit Greenland, which had similar issues in the past, but it's been a while. Now they're mostly poor and have this schizophrenic relationship to Denmark (they want to be independent, but couldn't survive without the Danish subsidies.) In any event...fascinating stuff...

^ Thank you for noticing! Yes the dam is completed and a lagoon is forming right now that is obliterating landscape and breeding grounds for many bird species. Sad times indded
