I like Altbeer as well (never had a bad beer in Germany)
Sometimes you'll still find some Bierkellers who brew their own, like that a lot and all the good beers in the countryside, from the small breweries as well.
Besides that, you have a lot of other nice things as wel.

(like German pilsners verry much, you brew the best)

^ HA! Pilsner. in Düsseldorf we drink ALTBIER! ok. but in fact you can get a nice cold pils there, too.
