I saw a fantastic portrait of Raymond Carver not so long ago, and thought immediately of this one. The two portraits have a lot in common. I wish I had the picture to scan. It ran in The New Yorker magazine in December, with a previously unpublished Carver story.

Question. I found a man here in the states who might sell me his 600 Monochrome stock. Expired 1998. I was wondering when your packs expired. Also, who is Menace? Also, does he have more film? Also, I am in love with the black and white integral films. Do you know anyone who might have a secret stock?

If you do you probably shouldn’t tell me, but maybe you will let slip a clue or two.

^ ah, the monochrome is almost as tasty as the choco - my source was expensive-ish on ebay, and has since run dry... think the expiry was about what 98 too... the one thing I would say is you need to scan and save because the image fades quite fast... not even smoking helps preserve any longer... Raymond Carver, eh? sometimes that man takes me into a little world where's it his protagonists and me... tho I recently read this (»link) and it kind of freaked me out, but like Gunter Grass' recent 'fessions... sometimes it's best not to read too much

haha... i may follow... already some of the pubs down here are throwing us outside... i feel so dirty. but while the weathers good i don't mind.
It is ritual in Cornwall to only smoke Golden Virginia. However, if pushed - or on hols - will take on a Lucky or a camel Light.

^ rituals? cornwall? never.... ;-) being scottish, i've had some practice... means you can get some peace rather than your cigs nicked.. ha ha ha ha!

what's your brand?

^ Camel Lights normallyu, but had a crack at American Spirit last week as there was NO smokable brands (ie Dunhill Lights, Lucky Strike Lights, Gauloise Legeres reds or even bloody B&H Silver...)in the shop and I may yet change... obviously I'll have to move to Greece on 1 July ;-)
