what a pola!!!!

the colors are amazing!!!!

^
Many thanks. Yeah, those colors...daylight- balanced Spectra film meets 9300K white point laptop display showing a black and white movie still in the evening :-) An improvement over the look of the movie still for sure.

Very well captured. Fantastic shot to stare at!

Thank you.

This was the first time I ever used my Spectra close-up lens kit. I adore the self-retracting pullstring with the little knob on the end that allows you to get the distance to your subject just right. Such an elegantly simple method to get good results (if focus is your thing.)

It's a pretty gripping start to a film that runs a great gamut of different moods and situations.

The pictured actor Victor Sjöström is actually also the godfather of Swedish cinema who directed many movies from the early 1910s through the late 1930s. He was 78 years old when he played this lead role for Bergman in 1957 and died some two and a half years later. An old man coming to terms with mortality playing and old man coming to terms with mortality in a movie...perfect casting and a very memorable tribute of Bergman to the progenitor of Swedish filmmaking.

i´ve been fascinated by Bergmann movies in former times. it´s a good idea to watch again those classics on dvd.

The DVD transfers of a number of his movies available from the Criterion Collection label (I'm not sure whether that's something available in Europe and if so whether it runs under the same name) are really quite brilliant and highly recommended. Of course if you can catch any of this on a big screen instead... ;-)

As much as like to let images stand on their own two (four? one hundred?) feet... since this isn't really my image, I feel compelled to provide a little more context.

In the pictured nightmare, Isak finds himself walking up a very sunny, completely deserted street. He notices a clock outside a shop that is missing both hour and minute hands. He walks up to a man that suddenly appears on the sidewalk in front of him, places his hand on the man's shoulder and when the man turns around his head turns out to be a bizarre, scrunched-up distortion of a face on a round, balloon-like surface. The man collapses immediately and blood starts streaming down alongside the curb. Then a horse-drawn hearse rushes past him, jumps the curb and hits the post of a street light. The horses run away and one of the back wheels detaches from the gurney and rolls back to almost hit Isak, who stands back on the sidewalk, watching in disbelief. The crashed gurney rocks, then tilts and the coffin slides down towards the street. The lid slides halfway off the coffin revealing a hand. Isak walks up to the coffin...the hand trembles and moves and as Isak peers into the coffin it grips his arm and starts pulling him in. The body in the coffin is his own. Isak recoils in terror and tries to escape his dead self's grasp. That is the moment captured in this photo.
