Peeled
Back in 2002 I pulled apart one of my time zero Polaroid films. I knew I could do something with what I had found.
After Ten years of shooting Time Zero film (long after it was discontinued and almost impossible to find) I was able to perfect my technique and results.

I started with photographing my subject or my collage. Once the image was captured on my Polaroid, I began working the emulsions with a series of sharp to dull nails. Smearing the emulsion around or pushing hard into it and creating solid black lines. (hair, eye lashes etc)
Once my etchings/carvings are complete, i leave the Polaroid to sit, sometimes for a few hours, sometimes up to a year or years. Afterwards I begin a slow slow process of peeling the Polaroids apart, the front peeled apart from the back. Carefully not separating to much or to little. Sometimes it isnt peeling well and must be left for more time etc.
Once I have successfully peeled apart the polaroid into two final sides, I then often will scratch/carve into the side of choice a little further, cleaning up lines or adding some extra elements of texture or revealing more of a certain color over the other ones via removing layers...
once finally complete, i scan the final peeled polaroid image.

The images are available in print form, as well as the original image itself framed.
