Submerged
These may not be the most beautiful of shots that I have ever taken but I know some of you out there might just be interested in the mythical beast that is the SX-70 underwater housing, and it's failings!

Finally, after many years of trying, I got my hands on an ikelite underwater housing for my SX-70 camera. It's huge, clunky and very impractical. And it's a bugger taking on a plane with limited baggage allowance!

It's great fun but nearly impossible to use and nearly impossible to focus. There is an area on the housing you are meant to look through to focus, but with water moving around you lining your eye up to the 1cm diameter (unmarked) viewing area is nearly impossible! Plus there is so much air in it that it wants to float on the surface, so unless you are standing in water and using your own body weight to sink it, the whole thing is extremely difficult.

These were my favourite shots taken with the camera - after 4/5 packs of film raced through it. The wastage was mostly due to waves crashing into me and taking the picture for me! Overall a very frustrating experience though I'm not ready to give up yet. I just have to get hold of some more film, so I don't feel guilty about feeding it to this little monster....
