rosso sedia #4
“Rosso sedia“ (chair-red) is a purely analogue work and represents the elementary unit of Giampiero Pagnini’s research: the observation of light. In these works light makes a show of itself, wears a red colour, takes the shape of a chair, is deformed and returned to us through a pin-hole that etches a bed of Polaroid film squares, in the obscurity of a dark room. We become spectators of ourselves, trapped by the vision encircling us, obtained through a microscopic pin-hole which allows obtaining a pure, non-mediated image, not quantified by the intervention of lenses, as in a human eye deprived of the crystalline. The result, distorted and fragmented, projects us in a dimension of dream and begs the question: “is reality just like our eyes see it?”
