The Redfern Inn
sulfiteman says:
"Very interesting - I used to read about the state management scheme pubs when I was a member of CAMRA in the 1970s. I like your photographs; and photographs of vernacular architecture such as this"
The Redfern Inn, St Ann's, Carlisle. This is named after the architect Harry Redfern, who designed most of the public houses in Carlisle that were built under the State Management Scheme.
The pubs Refern designed and built had a profound influence on "pub architecture" throughout the UK and to this day a lot of his principles of pub design are still followed.
