															hysteria

i didn't like this much when i finished it. i found it too complicated, confused, messy. then i scanned it and, seeing it bigger, i fell in love with it.
when i see it in full size, i just stop for a while looking at the seven faces, at the texture and shades, at all the small details.
i understood that i can represent a subject like hysteria only in a complicated, confused, messy way, for all it represented in women's history.
the idea that the uterus was believed to cause mental insanity, the small universe that is a woman's mind and the denial of female sexual pleasure through history are not things i'm able to represent in a minimalistic way, sorry.

													Tip:

i made this collage with three polaroids of backlit sheets of a 1910 magazine and watercolors textured with paper towels. as usual, i cut the polaroids, i washed, scratched and glued them together, but this time i put between the polaroids those watercolor layers because the result looked too dark and colorless to me.
