The Pissoir

The listed outhouse at Holzplatz in Munich has had a very special façade since February 2020: Three former Munich residents were immortalized on it none other than Freddie Mercury, Albert Einstein, and Rainer Werner Fassbinder. They now adorn the dark green outhouse as part of the art project "The Pissoir." Actress Barbara Valentin, Mercury's best friend, glows on the garage door opposite.
The concept "The Pissoir" was conceived by author and artist Martin Arz and innkeeper Thomas Zufall. The street art group "Graphism" was responsible for the artistic design.
Unfortunately, you cannot enter the outhouse, which once stood at Stachus and later served as a gay meeting place at Holzplatz. It has been closed for its original purpose since the 1990s.
