sx-70 sonar onestep problem (foldable slr) :(

The autofocus isn't working though it did the last time I had used it (last week).

Theres is a red light on the right side in the viewfinder and only a minor movement of the lens, but: no proper focusing.
Paradoxicaly the shutter still fires and the frames get ejected. I've tried this with several used
casettes loaded with old images.
It also fires and is focusable in manual mode.

I've been desperately searching for a conclusion via the web for the last hours, but couldn't find this specific problem with a sx70 onestep. Hope anybody can help? suggestions how to fix? I know if this is an electronic problem things will become difficult... Thanks!

I also do have a question: I bought a used sx-70 sonar onestep (didn't try it, yet - no film) which can only be opened by pulling it upwards a bit tougher (it seems that it is not opening as smooth as it should; the camera is in a good condition and there's no rust or something) - so, is this just normal? And how could this problem be fixed? I'm affraid of damaging the camera if I do this to often. Thank you for your help!
