"a polaroid picture without border is not a polaroid anymore". what is it then? i think there is sometimes the feeling that a picture is elevated simply by having a polaroid border around it (fake or real).

borders are just borders. if you've seen one SX-70/600 border you've seen them all. the picture is the thing. the best published book of SX-70 polaroids is probably by Walker Evans. didn't show the borders.

I try to get my posts to look as much like the originals as possibe. Straight scans don't usually get there so I spend a fair amount of time in PS trying to bring the scan back to the orignal (in terms of subtle colors, contrast, shadow detail, etc.). I do occasional remove a white spot or dust spot that might appear in the processing but that is pretty rare. And I can understand why others might want to leave these untouched.

thanks to all polanoiders for your support and words and views and votes. i am certainly glad i returned to taking polaroids about three years ago after a long break. i was able to enjoy SX-70 before it faded away...

hey, thanks to all who looked at my pictures or commented or voted. it's been fun (and surprising) to find a place where all the polaroid-obsessives might gather...

anyone have a guess as to how long Time-Zero/SX-70 film will remain available? i know they discontinued it's production this month and are not selling it at the Polaroid site anymore. i'm sure people will start price gouging soon (if they haven't already)...

i also wish i had the 20 sx-70 double packs that sixgonzo recently received. a spare $500 or so.
